It is with profound sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Alwin Bully. An advocate to Dominica's culture and national identity for over 45 years.
Alwin Bully created the national flag in 1978 during a design competition, as Dominica moved forward to independence from Great Britain.
"I wanted each and every citizen to embrace the symbols, the forests, the land, the rivers and mountains, and the wildlife we were blessed with and tried to include them all on the flag.
“Of greatest importance to me is the circle with ten stars of the same size, signifying the equality of our ten parishes and every Dominican citizen in these parishes,”
DBS Radio and its management, staff, and all Dominican's near and far say thank you.
To the family, relatives, and friends of Alwin, we extended our deepest condolences to the loss of an amazing man and national patriot.
